Family Fun Days

On Saturday February 24th 2024 and Saturday March 23rd 2024, we hosted and organized a family fun day. The two family fun days were held separately at the Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre and at the Victorian Tamil Community Centre.

There was a kaleidoscope of cultural performances, an indulge in delicious cuisines from around the world and an engagement in activities that reflect the global mosaic of our Greater Dandenong Community.

The first family fun day had a summer theme while the second family fun day had a tropical theme. We also inform and promote people on DCLC’s current running Classes and Activities via free entry to the events.

These events represent people coming together to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that makes our community vibrant and diverse. Our community is a mosaic of cultures, language and traditions and is a celebration of the richness that diversity brings to our lives. It’s an opportunity for us to learn from one another, to share our unique stories and to reveal in the beauty of our differences. Its purpose was to inform people about COVID-19 and to successfully deliver an event via funding from the Department of Health.

Highlights of the events include:

Sand Art from NP’s Sand Art Creations (https://npssandartcreations.com.au)

Salsa Dance Lesson from Salsa Society (https://www.salsasocietydance.com)

Catering, Drinks & Decorations from Debs Events

Stallholders: Latrobe Community Health Services, Headspace, Foundation House, Monash Health

Performances from local dance crews including a cultural performance from AVAC.

Presentations on COVID-19

DCLC would like to extend our gratitude to all the organizers, volunteers, and contributors who have worked tirelessly to make those events possible. Their dedication has brought us all together for a day filled with laughter, learning and most importantly, a celebration of the wonderful diversity that makes our community strong.
